Visit the Submit Document page and upload your document.
What file formats can I send?
For proofreading, editing, and formatting, we work with Microsoft Word as it offers superior editing features. As such, we encourage submitting documents in .DOC or .DOCX format whenever feasible. While we do accept other file types, such as PDFs, they will be converted to WORD format prior to commencing with the editing. For other file formats, please reach out to us for confirmation that we can work with your particular file format.
Do you accept essays from all subject types?
Our proofreading and editing services cover all subject areas. Typically, we assign your document to an editor who specialises in your field or has a keen interest in the subject matter. This approach ensures that our editors grasp the context of your work, allowing them to make appropriate revisions to your document while preserving its intended meaning. Our primary focus is on checking your use of English rather than the subject matter. If there is any ambiguity, the editor will verify the facts or refer to online sources or ask the customer for clarification.
We specialise in academic articles such as dissertations, theses, essays, reports, coursework, research proposals, journal articles, personal statements, course books and all types of business documents. Nonetheless, we are open to reviewing any type of document that requires our services, whether it’s a letter or a short story.
How long will it take to edit my document?
We offer a variety of turnaround options ranging from 96 hours (4 days) to 48 hours (2 days). However, if you require your work to be returned sooner, please contact us at enquiries@proofers.co.uk with your exact requirements and we will make every effort to fast track your document.
Do you work on evenings and weekends?
Yes, our editors work 7-days a week and throughout the year including the weekends. Our turnaround times are based on calendar days and not working days.
Is my information safe?
We do not engage in selling, publishing, or disseminating any documents belonging to our customers, nor do we share our customers’ details with third parties. Prior to joining our team, our editors sign legal agreements ensuring confidentiality. Moreover, customer details are kept confidential and are never shared with our editors. We operate a secure site and guarantee the secure deletion of all received documents from our servers within 4 weeks.
Is proofreading and editing ok with my university?
Universities allow and encourage students to have their work proofread. When you’ve been working on a piece of writing for a long time, it can be easy to miss mistakes or overlook inconsistencies because you’ve become too familiar with the content. A fresh pair of eyes can catch errors that you might have missed.
Why choose Proofers?
After spending considerable time working on your document, you’re likely to be content that it expresses everything you intend. Nonetheless, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and spelling can significantly influence the clarity of your work, whether it’s a thesis, dissertation, essay, CV, or any other document that determines your future. Through our extensive range of proofreading and copy editing services, we can guarantee that your ideas are conveyed clearly and accurately. Submit your document to us, and we’ll return it to you in perfect condition.

Can I see the changes?
Using Microsoft Office Word, all amendments to your document are clearly visible through the use of ‘Track Changes’ and margin comments, clearly indicating where, and for what reasons, changes have been made. The editor may use the margin comments to offer suggestions or questions if anything is unclear. A clean version of the document with correction markings and notes removed is also provided.
The three documents returned to you are:
- With Corrections – This is a version of your document showing ALL the changes identified and made by the editor.
- Clean – This is a clean copy of your document, with ALL the recommended changes implemented and any mark-ups or comments removed.
- Comments – This contains informative comments from the editor and notes on errors and corrections.
