How do I calculate the word count of my
document? Do I count the references and bibliography?
We use the 'Word Count' function in Microsoft Word. To find the
word function, go to the top menu and select Tools, then select
Word Count. You will see all the statistics for that document including
Word Count, Number of Pages, Number of Characters, and so on. The
word count is taken from the document as you send it to us, not
the word count after editing.
We count references and bibliography because these are also edited
to make sure they are consistent with the rest of the document.
If you would not like us to edit your bibliography then you must
state so when submitting your document. This will ensure your document
will be priced document.

Why is my estimate
different from the amount I was charged?
You are charged by the number of words included in the document,
when it was originally sent. It is possible that you may have accidentally
over-counted or under-counted the words. If you feel that the final
invoice is not correct then please don’t hesitate to contact
us - either visit our 'Contact Us' page or alternatively write to
us on enquiries@proofers.co.uk.

Do
you write assignments for students?
No. We are not an assignment writing service
and we do not do any research for you or provide you with new content.
You must complete the research and write-up yourselves before sending
it to us for editing.
If you allow someone else to write your assignment and submit it
as your own work, you must be aware that you are committing an act
of plagiarism. If you are an international student you also risk
losing your visa.

Is your service cheating?
Has anyone been in trouble for using your service?
No. We have never heard of any student getting
into trouble with a lecturer, tutor or university for using our
service. In actual fact, the person who marks your assignment will
often be appreciative of proofreading and may even recommend you
use our service.
You should be marked on your content, critical thinking and research
abilities, and not hindered by your written English skills. Our
service helps you to present your ideas clearly so that you can
be graded for your understanding of the subject, not on your written
English.

Will your editors
have the experience in the same field as the topic of my document?
If not, can you still help me?
Yes, we certainly can. Every one of our editors has excellent written
English skills so as long as your document is written in English
we can help. Our staff have years of experience writing, assessing
and editing academic documents.
It is not our job to create new ideas for you, but to help you express
your own ideas more clearly. Therefore, we do not need to have an
in-depth knowledge of your subject matter. From your document we
can quickly learn about your topic and identify mistakes in logic
and errors in continuity between different parts of your work.

Do you work on weekends?
Yes, we are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. If you have
a tight deadline please contact us in advance.

I didn't get my edited
document back, what should I do?
The first thing you should do is make sure you do not have a SPAM
email filter or similar blocking email sent from proofers.
If you have second and third back-up email accounts please make
sure we know about them so we can send your document to all your
email accounts. Also make sure your email account is not set to
filter attachments since we send your edited files as Microsoft
Word attachments.
